Madrid eye swoop for Tevez
Carlos Tevez's performances and goals for Argentina in the World Cup is raising interest from Real Madrid.
The La Liga runner-ups are seeking to snatch Carlos Tevez from Manchester City and are prepared to offer £40 million to bring him to the club, according to Sport.
Tevez, 26, shone at City last term after making a controversial cross-town switch from Manchester United. His 28-goal haul put the club on the brink of Champions league qualification and 'do-or-die' attitude made him a hero to the supporters.
This firm has attracted Madrid and they are prepared to throw wages of £180,000-a-week at the Argentina World Cup 2010 star to bring him to the Bernabeu. With Raul likely to exit this summer and Karim Benzema a reported target for United, Tevez would fill the gap in Real's ranks and link-up with international team-mate Gonzalo Higuain.
