Madrid eye swoop for Tevez
Carlos Tevez's performances and goals for Argentina in the World Cup is raising interest from Real Madrid.
The La Liga runner-ups are seeking to snatch Carlos Tevez from Manchester City and are prepared to offer £40 million to bring him to the club, according to Sport.
Tevez, 26, shone at City last term after making a controversial cross-town switch from Manchester United. His 28-goal haul put the club on the brink of Champions league qualification and 'do-or-die' attitude made him a hero to the supporters.
This firm has attracted Madrid and they are prepared to throw wages of £180,000-a-week at the Argentina World Cup 2010 star to bring him to the Bernabeu. With Raul likely to exit this summer and Karim Benzema a reported target for United, Tevez would fill the gap in Real's ranks and link-up with international team-mate Gonzalo Higuain.

Pique hopes Torres comes to Barca
Gerard Pique would love Fernando Torres to join him at the Catalan outfit, but admits a deal seems unlikely.
Barca have already signed one Spain striker this summer following the capture of David Villa from Valencia.

The Catalans also paid a lot to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Inter Milan last year, but the Sweden striker had a disappointing first season at the Nou Camp and new Barca president Sandro Rosell is reportedly a big admirer of Torres.
Pique admits Villa and Torres are hugely important players for Spain and believes the pair can get the team's World Cup campaign back on track following the disappointing opening defeat against Switzerland on Wednesday.
"They are hugely important. They are two world-class players and we have to have faith in them," he told Sport in an interview.
Pique believes Torres would be a great signing for Barca but admits the deal may be a difficult one to complete.
"It's complicated. The operation for Fernando is a difficult one. I don't know to what extent there is interest or if it is press talk but if he came, they (Torres and Villa) would form an incredible partnership," he said.
"They are very good players and when two good players play together, they are always compatible."
Pique has been impressed by Torres' goalscoring record for Liverpool.
"In the three years he has been there (in England), his statistics are excellent. He has scored loads of goals, played a lot for Liverpool and showed he has a great eye for goal," he said.
"But we can't forget about Zlatan and Bojan (Krkic) because they are great players up front and I don't know about the (reported) interest in the footballers we have (at Barca)."
Meanwhile, the central defender hopes Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas will join Barca sooner rather than later.
"I don't know when he'll come, but he will. I hope it's this year. The negotiations are under way, he will cost money but we hope it happens," he said.
But Pique insists his Spain team-mate is not allowing himself to be distracted by the constant rumours of a possible move to the Nou Camp.
"Cesc is sufficiently mature and has a lot more experience than me in the national team. I don't need to say anything to him," he said.

Iker Casillas drops transfer hint
Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas says he is happy at the Spanish giants - but he has not ruled out the possibility of a move.
The 29-year-old Spanish international's consistent performances have attracted much interest, including from both Manchester United and City.

While he been at the Spanish giants all his career and is happy at present, he does not rule out moving on some day.
This may come sooner than later if a big money bid comes in for Casillas, especially as new Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has revealed he wants to buy a top-class keeper this summer.
Casillas, who is currently on duty at the World Cup, told the Daily Star Sunday: "I am aware of the interest of both Manchester United and City.
"I'm always flattered whenever another club shows interest in my qualities as a goalkeeper. I have been at Real Madrid all my career and I still enjoy going to training every day.
"I enjoy meeting the fans too - but we all know how uncertain things are in football.
"I'm not going to say never. Right now Madrid would have to kick me out of the club before I consider a move.
"Who knows what will happen, though, if a big money offer comes in."

Unveiling Fabregas is my dream
Unveiling Fabregas is my dream
Barcelona presidential candidate Marc Ingla has revealed he dreams of unveiling Cesc Fabregas as his first new signing.
The club's former marketing vice-president is a big admirer of the 23-year-old Spain midfielder, but insists Barca will not pay over the odds.
"Cesc is a marvel, as is (David) Villa," he told Sport in a digital interview with readers of the newspaper's online version.
"My only worry is paying over the odds, but I confess that my dream would be to unveil Cesc as president."
With the likes of Spain internationals Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets already at the club, Barca already possess a wealth of talent in midfield, but Ingla reckons Fabregas has what it takes to become a starter at the Nou Camp.
"If he comes, I am convinced that Cesc will soon become the number one choice in his position," he said.
But the 44-year-old has promised the Catalans will not be held to ransom by Arsenal.
"Anything between 25 and 35 million euros would seem suitable," he said.
On the possible departures of striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Yaya Toure, Ingla said he would trust the judgment of Barca's coaching staff.
"Whatever the coaches decide will be fine by me," he said.
"We won't interfere in technical issues - that's down to (coach) Pep (Guardiola) and (sporting director) Txiki (Begiristain)."
